Thank you so much to everyone who took part in our virtual 5km run series! Starting back on the 23rd March, it’s kept so many of you going for the last 13 weeks and we’re so impressed with your motivation, dedication to run and the excitement of the leaderboard changing each week! We’ve consolidated this with weekly emails, ‘meet the runner’ posts and some beautiful photos to show ‘from where I run’. A big thank you to each and everyone of you for supporting the series and supporting Tri Energy.
We are delighted that everyone who has ran five of the 5kms will be presented with a medal; we will start posting these out to you this week! Also, our podium winners will receive a lovely wooden trophy in keeping with our theme of being a greener company!
Female Results Review:
The top of the podium for the women’s senior event has stayed the same for the last few weeks, with Sallie out in front untouchable with her sub 20 minute times, and Susie running not one…but THREE lifetime bests to take second place! In third was one of my oldest friends Rachel, who is beginning her comeback after baby number 2.
The vet’s event was very closely contested for many weeks amongst 4 of our runners: Katie, Laura, Serena and Jo. For weeks, Katie, Laura and Serena jumped in and out of the top spot; with Laura breaking 25 minutes for the first time ever (24:59!) However, a late surge from Jo, with her fastest run coming in just yesterday – meant she nudged Serena off the podium to take first in her category, with Katie second and Laura third.
In the Super Vet’s event, it was Josie from Rugby who led for pretty much the first 11 weeks of the series and she massively inspired Hazel to keep chipping away to try to break 27 minutes….which she did…..on 4 separate occasions! Hazel moved up to the top spot 2 weeks ago and she has stayed there….up until today! Josie emailed in her fastest run of the competition (25:54) to pip Hazel to the top spot. What awesome running ladies…well done! It was Christine who finished in third after what is the most consistent running I’ve ever seen – her top 3 results all 27 minutes and 12 seconds!
We had 2 juniors finishing off the female category with the top spot going to Emily and second place to Hannah. Well done to both of them. 5km is a long way for anyone, let alone a youngster!
Male Results Review:
Over in the men’s category it was Coach Phil who led the way in the senior men’s event with a fastest time of 18:13. He was joined on the podium by Simon in second (husband of Susie who finished second in the women’s event!), and Cliff in third. The vet’s event saw an outstanding performance by Matt – who finished top of the leaderboard overall, with a cracking average time of 18:11 for his top 3 runs! Down in second place is a man we’re more used to seeing on marathon start lines, Brian (well done Brian), and third for the vets was Phil W – well done Phil! We had just one entrant in the super vet category so this meant a convincing win for late-comer Gary; thanks so much for joining us Gary – we’ll post your trophy! And finally to finish the off the men’s event in the junior category we had my nephew Henry from Leeds in first (Henry is a competitive swimmer but had to ditch swim training for running during lockdown and with the sorts of times he’s been posting I think he’s a natural!), my other nephew George from Coventry in second, and then James from Kidderminster rounding up the podium in third.
A list to the full leaderboard can be found here.
If you were lucky enough to finish on the podium – then amazing! Well done to you all! And well done to everyone else who took part, we admire those who finish last just as much as those who finish first! Our ethos is that sport (and running) is for all….so we love to see you achieve at EVERY level!
Next up is our Best Ever All Rounder Series (B.E.A.R) which starts tomorrow and lasts ALL summer, so get signed up here. And if you’re local (Worcestershire) we’re also starting some small social distance run coaching sessions this week, find out more here.
Stay safe and sane everyone and keep enjoying your running x
